Interim Management Statement
1. Net Asset Value
The Ordinary share net asset value (NAV) was 75.3p at 31 August 2009 (75.4p at
31 May 2009 adjusted for dividend paid in August).
The NAV shown above is unaudited and reflects the closing bid prices of quoted
securities at 31 August 2009. Unlisted companies are normally valued on a
six-monthly basis and the NAVs include the Directors' valuations of unlisted
investments as at 31 May 2008 adjusted for material developments within the
portfolios since that date.
2. Investments and disposals
During the quarter ended 31 August 2009, investments totalling GBP1,143,000 were
made in four unlisted or AIM/PLUS quoted companies. During the same period, a
combination of partial and complete disposals of seven investments generated
aggregate proceeds of GBP788,346 against cost of GBP858,894.
There were no other material transactions during the period under review.
3. Recent developments
Since 31 August 2009 the investment in Funeral Services Partnership was realised
for GBP975,209 against cost of GBP845,549, resulting in a gain of GBP129,660.
The Board is not aware of any other events or transactions that have taken place
between 31 August 2009 and the date of publication of this statement and which
would have had a material impact on the financial position of the Company.
