Integic Teams With ICON Clinical Research to Develop End-to-End
Clinical Trials Management System
Combination of Skills Leads to Unique, Quicker-to-Market Solution
CHANTILLY, Va., June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Integic Corporation, a leading
provider of software applications and business process management solutions,
today unveiled its Global Trials Manager(TM), a new clinical trials management
system, at the 40th Annual Meeting of the Drug Information Association in
Washington, DC. Global Trials Manager (GTM) is the result of a collaborative
effort between Integic and ICON Clinical Research (NASDAQ:ICLR), a global
contract clinical research organization, to develop and implement a next-
generation software platform for the comprehensive management of global
clinical trial processes. It will offer an extensive array of web-based user
features and integrated workflow automation. Global Trials Manager is designed
to revolutionize the real-time information sharing among project teams to allow
for faster decision-making, more effective use of resources, reduced
time-to-market and enhanced patient safeguards. Initial deployment of the new
solution is slated for October.
"Based upon the growing scope, complexity, importance and urgency surrounding
today's clinical trials, there is a need to better equip clinical trials
organizations to help pharma organizations develop needed medications more
quickly while maintaining rigorous safety standards," says Pat Barrett,
Integic's vice president for Life Sciences.
The collaboration between ICON and Integic is designed to leverage each
company's proven and unique strengths. As a global leader in clinical trial
processes, ICON offers a first-hand view of the requirements and procedures
necessary for conducting a successful trial while Integic brings over 10 years
of experience in developing business process management solutions for the Life
Sciences and Healthcare industry. As a result, these two organizations are
able to integrate the technological, business and human requirements of the
Clinical Trials industry into a comprehensive solution designed to automate and
extend core business processes.
The system being developed, Global Trials Manager, is a universal management
platform addressing a clinical research organization's fundamental need to
streamline information capture, maintain data relevancy and automate
notification. Taking a life cycle approach, it offers an integrated planning
and monitoring environment encompassing all aspects of a clinical trial. The
system has specific functionality supporting study start-up activities, site
initiation, patient enrollment and monitoring, data collection throughout the
trial, and the analysis of project metrics and results. What makes Global
Trials Manager truly unique are real-time reporting and tracking capabilities
embedded throughout the system; proactive automated alerts and notifications to
ensure key milestones are met; and the ability to proactively search for,
identify and respond to key data points automatically. This allows
organizations to more easily and securely make adjustments and changes ensuring
successful completion of the trial.
Barrett adds, "With the extensive expertise of the Clinical Trials process
provided by ICON, along with Integic's in-depth experience in the development
of Clinical Trials software and integration of workflow, Global Trials Manager
will provide the essential information needed to successfully manage a clinical
trial and automatically notify management in a proactive sense should key
milestones be in jeopardy. GTM will allow Clinical Research Organizations to
maintain a competitive edge through improved efficiency, enhanced tracking
capabilities, the elimination of redundancy and lags between systems and
processes and take advantage of new capabilities to track and measure key
benchmarks, metrics and trends across various studies." About Integic Integic is a leading provider of software applications and business process
