FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Insurance broker Willis Group Holdings plans
to open insurance agencies in Germany within the coming two years, chief
executive Joseph Plumeri told Financial Times Deutschland in an interview.
The agencies, called Managing General Agents, could help boost sales in
Germany, which analysts estimate to be at 90 mln eur, about 10 mln more than two
years ago, the newspaper said.
Plumeri declined to comment on speculation the broker may be planning to bid
for rival Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc, the newspaper said.
"We have presented to investors ambitious targets for the coming three
years," the newspaper quoted Plumeri as saying. He added that those targets are
currently based on organic growth.
"But that does not mean that we don't look at opportunities that come up."
