JAKARTA (Thomson Financial) - Indonesian shares were slightly higher in
early trade Monday as investors returned from a long weekend and chased select
stocks that have been oversold during the market's recent sharp fall.
Trading opened slightly lower but quickly bounced back on bargain-hunting.
Trading volume was thin, indicating that some market players stayed on the
sidelines awaiting fresh leads.
The Indonesian market was closed on Thursday and Friday for public holidays.
Wall Street was also shut on Friday before Easter.
At 9.45 am, the Jakarta composite index was up 7.36 points or 0.3 percent at
2,330.92, off a low of 2,319.60 and a high of 2,332.25.
Advancers led decliners 66 to 23, with 24 stocks unchanged.
