The Indian rupee strengthened against the U.S. dollar in later deals on Friday.

The rupee that fell to an 8-day low of 56.2005 against the greenback in early deals amid disappointment on Fed and ECB inaction is presently quoted at 55.75. On the upside, the rupee may target 55.00 level. The pair closed yesterday's deals at 55.835.
