The Indian rupee weakened further against its U.S. counterpart in morning deals on Tuesday.

The rupee hit an 11-day low of 55.9855 against the greenback, compared to Monday's close of 55.695. The next near term downside target level for the rupee is seen at 56.2.

India's industrial output data for April is due shortly.
