NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Incyte Corp. Monday said data from a Phase
I/II trial of INCB18424, the company's orally-available janus-associated kinase
inhibitor, demonstrates that it provides rapid and profound clinical benefits in
myelofibrosis patients.
Myelofibrosis is a neoplastic condition with a survival rate of three to
seven years, characterized by varying degrees of bone marrow failure,
life-threatening splenic enlargement, and marked constitutional symptoms.
Results presented involved 11 of the patients in the study, and showed that
mean reduction in spleen size reached 52% in the first month and 86% in the
third, the company said. Additionally, all six patients treated for longer than
three months achieved clinical improvement as defined by the International
Working Group.
Incyte also said that INCB18424 was well-tolerated and that no patients
discontinued the study.
Incyte shares are up 4.2% to $9.58.
