“Voracity” Discovers, Integrates, Migrates, Governs, and Analyzes Big Data

Innovative Routines International (IRI), The CoSort Company, has unveiled an affordable data management platform called Voracity to streamline information architectures and help enterprises leverage the intrinsic value of data without the cost or complexity of multiple tools.

Voracity packages data discovery, integration, migration, governance, and analytics in an Eclipse GUI (IRI Workbench), and processes data in CoSort, and Hadoop MR2, Spark, Storm or Tez engines. Bloor Group’s Eric Kavanagh said Voracity “consolidates critical enterprise data management activities, and offers some significant advantages for ETL architects, data scientists, data security teams, and CIOs. It’s a well thought-out platform.”

IRI VP David Friedland explained that Voracity “addresses the volume, variety, velocity, veracity, and value challenges in developing insights” from data, and can manipulate, mask, munge and mine structured, semi-structured, and unstructured sources “in one pane of glass.”

Voracity workflows include: ETL and SQL jobs, slowly changing dimensions and change data capture reports, data masking and test data generation, data cleansing and unification (MDM), database platform and schema migrations, offline reorgs, statistical analyses, and complex transforms. Data targets can simultaneously be: persistent or federated tables and files, formatted reports, hand-offs to analytic tools (including in-memory BIRT feeds), and custom procedures.

Voracity users can create and manage their metadata and manipulations in: interactive wizards, dialogs, syntax-aware script and form editors with dynamic outlines, visual workflow and transformation diagrams, or spreadsheet-style ETL specifications in the cloud with AnalytixDS Mapping Manager. ADS-IRI metadata compatibility also facilitates automatic conversion of legacy ETL tools to Voracity.

Collaborative data curation is another benefit. “Multiple stakeholders can co-manage the data lifecycle in the same Eclipse ecosystem, while sharing and tracking master data and metadata changes in cloud repositories like EGit," observed Lisa Mangino, IRI Sales Director. "Voracity’s familiar GUI and simple, batchable scripts avoid skill gaps that plague competitors, and accelerate onboarding, SLA delivery, compliance, and digital business’ time-to-value,” she added.
