BOSTON (Thomson Financial) - IMAX Corp. Monday said it has signed a
joint-venture agreement with Regal Cinemas Inc., a subsidiary of Regal
Entertainment Group, to install 31 IMAX digital projection systems at Regal
locations in 20 major U.S. markets.
The deal more than double's Regal's IMAX presence in North America, the
company said.
Under the terms of the agreement, IMAX and Regal Cinemas will share the cost
and profitability of the new theatres. The first group of theatres is expected
to open by Nov. 21.
Shares of IMAX, the Canada-based entertainment technology company, closed
Thursday at $6.27, while shares of Regal Entertainment Group closed at $19.09.
