BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Dec. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Members of the
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and employees of
the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant have completed their months-long
joint annual Christmas project, collecting donations to provide for
48 children and 25 families this holiday season. This collaborative
project has taken place for more than 25 years.

families," said Farley Site Vice President Cheryl Gayheart. "We are so thankful for the
overwhelming support our plant receives from the community, and
it's important for us to give back whenever we can."
Donations of toys, clothes, and household and personal items
were collected to benefit 48 families through the Child Advocacy
Center, House of Ruth, Alfred Saliba Family Services Center and the
Exchange Center. Non-perishable food items were donated to the
Dothan Rescue Mission to provide a full, nutritious Christmas
dinner for 25 area families.
In addition, $1,600 of toys and
bikes were delivered to Toys for Tots, 11 children were sponsored
on the Salvation Army Angel Tree and 17 turkeys were purchased for
Turkeys from Heaven project. Volunteers have also been involved in
the Southern Alabama Regional Council on Aging's Santa for Seniors
project.
