NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Shares of Hurco Companies Inc. jumped
Thursday after the company reported a rise in its first-quarter results.
The Indianapolis-based manufacturer of computer control systems said net
income was $7.8 million, or $1.21 a share, up from the $5.4 million, or 84 cents
a share reported in the first quarter of 2007.
Sales rose 30% to $60.9 million from the $46.9 million reported last year.
The company said a weak U.S. dollar benefited revenue by 10% in the
year-over-year comparison.
Shares of Hurco rose 19% to $43.20 on Thursday.
