Phoenix-area charities are invited to apply for a $100,000 grant in the
Arizona Benefits charitable awards program, created and funded by health
benefits company Humana Inc. (NYSE:
HUM). The program is designed to give local not-for-profit, 501(c)(3),
charitable organizations the opportunity to receive a one-time infusion
of funding in order to create new programs or enhance ongoing activities
that seek to improve the mind, body or spirit of the greater Phoenix
area residents. Applications for the grant are available at www.arizonabenefits.org.
Humana of Arizona is now accepting applications from not-for-profit
organizations. The application deadline is Monday, June 30, at 5 p.m.,
and the winner will be announced at a celebration dinner in September.
“Arizona Benefits is an opportunity for Humana
to fund vital community needs in a large, meaningful way,”
said Debbie Smith, regional president of Senior Products for Humana’s
Western region. “I encourage all organizations
doing charitable work in Phoenix to visit www.arizonabenefits.org
and review the grant application process and program criteria.”
A panel of local judges, comprised of community leaders, public
officials and business representatives, will work with Humana to select
the $100,000 grant winner. Last year’s Arizona
Benefits recipient The Mesa Association of Sports for the Disabled used
the grant to purchase a vehicle to transport sports equipment for its
athletes, allowing them to participate in more sports competitions and
events.
Applications for this year’s grant may be sent
to Humana of Arizona, Attn: Arizona Benefits, 20860 N. Tatum Blvd.
Phoenix, AZ 85050. Questions can also be directed to Humana by calling
480-515-6435.
