BOSTON (Thomson Financial) - Hollis-Eden Pharmaceuticals Inc. Monday
reported additional positive data from its on-going Phase I/II clinical trial
with Triolex supporting an anti-inflammatory approach to treating type 2
diabetes.
The San Diego-based company said the additional data demonstrate that
Triolex is safe and well tolerated to date.
Hollis-Eden also said the data showed that Triolex "significantly" improved
insulin sensitivity and significantly lowered fasting blood glucose, insulin and
triglyceride levels in obese insulin resistant subjects.
In addition, the biotechnology company said all subjects from the study had
elevated levels of MCP-1 before initiating Triolex therapy, and showed a
"significant" drop in MCP-1 in serum and IL-6 in peripheral blood mononuclear
cells when treated with the compound at the highest dose, compared to
placebo-treated subjects.
Shares of Hollis-Eden closed Friday at $1.91.
