PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) - Computer company Hewlett Packard Co. said Friday it
has extended its tender offer to acquire all outstanding shares of software
company Opsware Inc. until Sept. 14.
Hewlett Packard extended the offer because not all conditions of the deal
have been completed. The deal cannot be completed until a waiting period under
Chinese antitrust regulations expires on Sept. 13 or is terminated.
The previous tender offer was set to expire Aug. 30. As of then, 93.9
million Opsware shares had been tendered.
Hewlett Packard agreed to acquire Opsware for $1.6 billion.
The deal is expected to close by Oct. 31.
Shares of Hewlett Packard rose 56 cents to $49 in premarket trading.
