NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Heartland Express Inc. reported third-quarter
earnings of $17.1 million, or 18 cents a share, down from $23 million, or 23
cents a share, in the same period a year ago.
Operating earnings were reduced by a $4.3 million decrease in gains on
disposal of property and equipment.
The mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Financial was for earnings
of 20 cents a share.
Revenue slipped to $146.6 million from last year's $147.1 million, missing
analyst forecasts of $153.9 million.
the North Liberty, Iowa trucking company's stock closed Tuesday at $14.20.
