Goldman Sachs Group Inc., down $7.12 at $201.51
The bank's fiscal fourth-quarter results topped Wall Street expectations,
but its cautious 2008 outlook disappointed investors.
Best Buy Co. Inc., down 48 cents at $51.62
Third-quarter profit rose 52 percent on sales of video game consoles and GPS
devices, but the electronics retailer offered a weak fourth-quarter profit
forecast.
Quicksilver Resources Inc., up $8.24 at $57.66
The natural gas and oil producer forecast higher production in 2008 and said
its board approved an $885 million capital spending plan.
Valassis Communications Inc., up $1.06 at $12.72
The producer of newspaper advertising inserts said cost-saving initiatives
are improving profit margins and will boost results next year.
NASDAQ
Waste Industries USA Inc., up $6.46 at $36.15
An investor group led by its founder and chairman, Lonnie Poole, Jr., is
taking the garbage collection company private for $544 million, or $38 per
share.
Adobe Systems Inc., up $1.13 at $42.03
Record sales lifted the software maker's fiscal fourth-quarter profit 21
percent and caused a Deutsche Bank analyst to upgrade the stock to "Buy."
Tuesday Morning Corp., down $1.75 at $4.78
Weakness in the home furnishings sector caused the housewares retailer to
lower its fiscal 2008 earnings and revenue forecast.
Visicu Inc., up $2.91 at $11.77
Royal Philips Electronics NV offered $430 million, or $12 per share, for the
medical services company to expand its product offerings.
