BOSTON (Thomson Financial) - GlaxoSmithKline Plc Friday reported positive
data from a Phase III trial of the combination of two targeted agents, Tykerb
and trastuzumab, in women with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer.
The United Kingdom-based drug manufacturer said the study showed a
statistically significant increase in median progression-free survival (PFS)
versus Tykerb alone.
Tykerb as a single agent resulted in median PFS of 8.1 weeks with an overall
clinical benefit rate of 12.4%, GlaxoSmithKline said.
The combination resulted in media PFS of 12 weeks with an overall clinical
benefit rate of 24.7%.
GlaxoSmithKline shares closed Thursday at $43.99.
