FRANKFURT--Germany's machinery orders in July rose 18% on the year, fueled by strong demand at home and from the rest of the eurozone, industry group VDMA said Wednesday.

Domestic demand jumped 43% over the same period of last year, while foreign orders increased by 5%, VDMA said. It added, however, that orders from other eurozone countries soared by 51% on the year. Orders from non-eurozone countries were down 9%.

For the first seven months of the year, machinery orders were up 2% in annual terms, VDMA added.
