German premium brand auto makers Daimler AG ((DDAIY), Audi AG (NSU.XE) and BMW AG (BMW.XE) are joining with private equity firm General Atlantic to bid for Nokia Corp's (NOK) HERE navigation business, Reuters reported Thursday, citing two people familiar with the matter.

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that the German auto maker consortium was preparing a bid with Chinese technology group Baidu Inc. (BIDU) worth "considerably more than 2 billion euros."
