Fresh Tilled Soil, a web
design and marketing company, today announced an innovative web design
concept called Rapid Web Prototyping (RWP). RWP is a business-driven
initiative, allowing companies to fast track their web product
initiatives while actively growing their user base in parallel.
With RWP, Fresh Tilled Soil is leap-frogging the industry’s
current web development and design methodology by turning the process
upside down and starting with the user interface designs before
developing a data model. Traditional web design allows for little
end-user input until the product is complete. This process provides
several advantages, including allowing developers to write the
supporting application and database elements using completed HTML/CSS
web pages as guides and thus avoiding time consuming and problematic
written technical specifications.
“In order to be a successful, virtual
non-profit entity, it is crucial that the design applies the correct
concepts from the start. Fresh Tilled Soil’s
RWP appealed to the exact circumstances and requirements of developing
our web presence,” said Andreas Widmer,
co-founder of S.E.VEN Fund. “We’re
helping unlock the potential of enterprise-based solutions to poverty
through the web, so conducting user testing prior to coding the site was
imperative to reduce the risk of developing functionality that our
customers would resist.”
To be successful, RWP relies on user interface designers that are
aesthetically focused but have a deep understanding of holistic product
design. Integrated web prototypes provide complete designs that provoke
an instant understanding for venture capitalists and potential end-users.
Richard Banfield, CEO of Fresh Tilled Soil said, “Older
design methods have been driven by bandwidth and process constraints,
working in total reverse to current business logic. Building the user
interface first gives our 'ready, fire, aim' entrepreneurial clients
immediate access to the end-user experience before investing in the
back-end. Like all other established product design disciplines it's now
time for the web to grow up and let design lead the development process.”
