SAN DIEGO, July 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- PacketSled, Inc., the company that democratizes security investigations and response by providing its customers with automated network visibility, detection, incident response and forensics in the cloud, announced today that Fred Wilmot will be joining the company as its Chief Technology Officer, effective immediately. In this role, he will be responsible for all aspects of the company's technology strategy, including software engineering, security research and development, and cloud operations.

Fred brings more than 20 years of cybersecurity expertise to PacketSled. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Solutions Engineering at Context Relevant, where he implemented a real-time transaction fraud platform for financial markets, weaponizing security use cases with data science automation and machine learning.

During his tenure at Splunk, Fred was responsible for the company's ascension to a market leader in the security industry, placing the company in the Gartner SIEM magic quadrant. As the founder and director of the global security practice, Fred prototyped innovation in the field, and built platform applications that were utilized in responding to some of the most major breaches in Internet history. Fred and his team were responsible for architecting and delivering the first version of Splunk's enterprise security product.

"Fred is an extremely well-respected security visionary with an incredible reputation and a deep understanding of the threat landscape that PacketSled is addressing for its customers. He is not only extraordinary on the technical end of the spectrum, but he has a strong track record of helping some of the world's largest companies overcome paramount cybersecurity issues in a manner that can be consumed by the business," said Matt Harrigan, PacketSled's President & CEO. "We are thrilled to have Fred join us on our journey in becoming the undisputed leader in security visibility, automation, and response."

"PacketSled's focus on productizing and automating incident response and forensics for mid-market companies as well as large enterprises is what sets it apart from others in the cybersecurity space," said Wilmot. "Many of these companies do not have the tools they need in order to effectively understand and combat cybercrime, and tools they do have cannot provide the context they need to make good decisions. PacketSled has the potential to revolutionize the way that security incidents are identified and handled, and I am thrilled to be a part of the team that will lead the way in democratizing digital forensics and incident response."

PacketSled is a fast growing, cloud based platform that enables deep network visibility, continuous monitoring, automated investigations and and incident response capabilities. The company has been named an innovator in leading publications and by security analysts, including SC Magazine, earning a perfect score in the online fraud group test. The company is headquartered in San Diego, with offices in Seattle, WA.
