LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Ford Motor Co has confirmed it is involved in
internal discussions about the future of its British Jaguar and Land Rover
units, indicating the auto maker could be preparing a sale of the brands,
according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
The newspaper quoted a spokesman as confirming that the company is working
with its financial advisers "to determine the best way forward for Jaguar and
Land Rover."
The confirmation followed newspaper reports in the UK that said Ford has
asked Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and HSBC to advise on a sale, which is said
to be in early stages and does not include Volvo, the third luxury brand in
Ford's Premier Automotive Group.
