BEIJING - Ford Motor Co. (F) said Thursday that it plans to sell five U.S.-made Lincoln models by 2016 through 60 dealerships in 50 cities in China.

The Dearborn, Mich., auto maker's premium brand currently doesn't have a formal presence.

In the longer term, Ford hopes eventually to make Lincoln cars in China, said Ford Chief Executive Alan Mulally, speaking on Thursday in Beijing. That would help it better compete with market giants Audi AG, BMW AG and Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz.
