appointed eight members to its Board of Advisors. Dr. Richard Pattenaude, Ashford
University president and CEO, administered an oath of office
to the advisors at the first 2015 Board meeting. The newly
appointed advisors are:
- Ken Fisher, founder, chairman,
and CEO of Fisher Investments
- Steve Forbes, chairman and
editor-in-chief of Forbes Media
- Rich Karlgaard, publisher of
Forbes Magazine
- Dr. Olin Oedekoven, president
and CEO of Peregrine Academic Services
- Cheryl Oldham, vice president of
the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
- Dr. Laura Palmer-Noone,
executive dean of Forbes School of Business
- Jeff Pannozzo, vice president of
government affairs at Bridgepoint Education (ex officio
member)
- Dr. Ray Powers, academic
department chair and chair of the Forbes School of Business Board
of Advisors
Ken Fisher
Fisher is
the founder, chairman, and CEO of Fisher Investments, a
$60-plus billion money management
firm. Known for his Forbes "Portfolio Strategy" column, he
is the third-longest running columnist in Forbes
history.
Steve Forbes
Forbes is
the son of Malcom Forbes. In 1993,
Forbes began a three-year term as chairman of the board of Empower
America, a conservative political reform organization. In 1996,
Forbes made his first bid for the presidency of the United States. Forbes remains an active
force at his family's publishing business and still serves as
chairman and editor-in chief of Forbes Media today.
Rich
Karlgaard
Karlgaard is an American journalist,
best-selling author, award-wining entrepreneur, and speaker. In
1992, he started Forbes ASAP along with Steve Forbes and George
Gilder. In 1998, Karlgaard was named publisher of
Forbes magazine.
Dr. Olin Oedekoven
Dr.
Oedekoven served 33 years in the U.S. Army Reserves and U.S. Army
National Guard, retiring in 2011. He founded Peregrine Leadership
Institute in 2003 and Peregrine Academic Services in 2009. He has
taught doctoral level students for 10 years.
Cheryl Oldham
Oldham is
vice president of education policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
and vice president of the education and workforce program of the
U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Additionally, she serves on
the Board of Trustees of Ashford
University.
Dr. Laura
Palmer-Noone
Dr. Palmer-Noone is the executive dean
of the Forbes School of Business. She has previously served as the
chief academic officer and president of University of Phoenix, president and CEO of Saras
Education, Inc., and president and CEO of Potomac College in
Washington D.C. Dr. Palmer-Noone
has served as vice chair of the U.S. Department of Education's
National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity
(NACIQI) and was a member of the board of the Lumina Foundation for
Education.
Jeff Pannozzo
Pannozzo,
with 20 years of government affairs experience, serves as lead
representative for Bridgepoint Education on higher education issues
before the U.S. Congress. Additionally, he serves as chairman of
Bridgepoint's political action committee.
Dr. Ray Powers
Dr.
Powers is an academic department chair at Ashford University's Forbes School of Business.
With nearly 40 years of corporate experience in business and
technology, Dr. Powers specializes in the area of mergers and
acquisitions, leadership training, and in the discipline of project
management.
The Forbes School of Business Advisory Board was established to
provide support and counsel to Mike
Burton, dean of the school, who serves as chairman. Members
offer their expertise and experience as advocates in advancing the
school and its mission.
