First Data (NYSE: FDC), a global leader in commerce-enabling
technology, earned new recognition from three premier organizations
that advocate for a progressive and inclusive work environment. The
three organizations – Human Rights Campaign, DiversityInc., and
GLSEN – each hailed First Data for fostering workplace equality and
opportunity for employees of all backgrounds.
The three recognitions include:
- Human Rights Campaign: For the
third consecutive year, First Data received a perfect score on the
Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index. The Index is a
leading national benchmarking standard on corporate policies and
practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender
employees.
- DiversityInc.: DiversityInc.,
which ranks excellence in corporate workplace policies, named First
Data as one of the Top 25 Noteworthy companies for diversity for
the third consecutive year. For the first time, First Data was also
named as one of DiversityInc.’s top companies for progress.
Additionally, on DiversityInc.’s list of top companies for military
veterans, First Data moved up seven spots to the number three
position from number 10 on last year’s list.
- GLSEN: On May 15, First Data was
named “Corporate Ally of the Year” at the GLSEN Respect Awards in
New York City. Held annually, the GLSEN Respect Awards showcase the
work of corporations, educators, and individuals who serve as
exemplary role models and have made a significant impact on the
lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth.
“First Data cultivates a workplace culture that values all
individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or
any other characteristic,” said Cindy Armine-Klein, Executive Vice
President, Chief Control Officer, and founder of UNITY, First
Data’s LGBT employee resource group. “It is incredibly rewarding to
be acknowledged for our ongoing commitment to building a
successful, inclusive culture that is good for our employees and
for business.”
Earlier this year, First Data implemented a new gender-neutral
paid parental leave policy designed to support all families with
the critical time needed to care for a new child without the
financial constraints that come with unpaid leave. Other
initiatives that have contributed to First Data’s continued
inclusion on these lists include its LGBT-inclusive policies, its
UNITY employee resource group, and its Supplier Diversity
program.
