MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Ansaldo STS SpA, in which Finmeccanica SpA owns
40 percent, said it has won a 135 million euros order to supply railway systems
in Malaysia.
Ansaldo STS's order is part of a 390 million euros order won by a joint
venture between its Malaysia unit and Balfour Beatty Rail Sdn Bhd, it said.
"Ansaldo STS is responsible for the signalling and telecoms, and Balfour
Beatty the electrification," it said, noting the two partners previously worked
together on another line in Malaysia.
The latest project is for a new 330 km railway line to link Ipoh and Padang
Besar in the north of Malaysia.
The project will run for several years, it said, without being more
specific, and extends links on the TransAsean Railway Network.
