Company to continue as ‘Official Delivery Service Sponsor of the NFL’ with FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week and Players of the Year Awards platform

FedEx announced today the extension of its official sponsorship of the National Football League (NFL) to remain the exclusive “Official Delivery Service Sponsor” of the NFL, Super Bowl and Pro Bowl.

“FedEx has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with the league and we are excited to continue to serve as the Official Delivery Service Sponsor of the NFL,” said Patrick Fitzgerald, senior vice president, Integrated Marketing and Communications. “The sponsorship provides us the opportunity to continue to engage with NFL fans, while giving back to the communities where our team members and customers live and work.”

“Whether it’s delivering the Vince Lombardi Trophy before the Super Bowl or activating the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week awards program, the relationship offers a unique and compelling platform for integrating our global brand,” Fitzgerald added.

The new agreement signals the continuation of the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week and Players of the Year awards program, the fan-driven platform highlighting the league’s leaders at the quarterback and running back positions.

Since the inception of the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week and Players of the Year awards program, FedEx has donated more than $1.7 million to local communities across the country.

The program is part of the FedEx Cares global giving initiative, in which FedEx is committing $200 million to 200 communities around the world by 2020.

This season, the program will support the USO and their commitment to keeping service members connected to family, home and country as they transition from military to civilian life.

Each week of the NFL season, FedEx will make a $2,000 donation to the USO in the name of both the quarterback and running back selected by fans as the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week. A donation will also be made in the names of both the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Year, which will be announced during the week of Super Bowl LII.

“The USO is grateful for the support of FedEx and the NFL who continue to show their commitment as a Force Behind the Forces,” said Lisa Anastasi, USO senior vice president and chief development officer. “The program gives football fans the ability to honor stand-out performances each week while directing charitable donations to the USO—a winning combination that gives back to our nation’s men and women in uniform.”

This marks the second consecutive season that the program has supported the USO.

“From the very start of our relationship in 2000, FedEx has been a tremendous sponsor and we’re thrilled to extend our sponsorship agreement with them for many seasons to come,” said Renie Anderson, NFL senior vice president of Sponsorship and Partnership Management. “The positive impact the NFL and FedEx relationship has had on communities across the country is something we are very proud of and we look forward to building on that success in the future.”
