German trade data for April is due at 2:00 am ET Friday. Ahead of the data, the euro showed mixed trading against other major currencies. While the euro declined against the yen and the greenback, it moved sideways against the pound and the franc.

At 1:55 am ET, the euro traded at 1.2513 against the greenback, 99.16 against the yen, 0.8085 against the pound and 1.2013 against the franc.
