BOSTON (Thomson Financial) - Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. Wednesday reported
fiscal second quarter net income of $20.6 million, or 70 cents a share, above
the mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Financial of 68 cents a share.
Revenue for the three months ended Dec. 31 rose 1% to $259.5 million,
topping Wall Street's $258.8 million consensus.
In the year-earlier quarter, the Danbury, Conn.-based home furnishings
retailer posted net income of $22.8 million, or 70 cents a share, on revenue of
$257.4 million.
The company did not issue earnings guidance but said it was "cautiously
optimistic" that it can continue "to do well" while operating in a difficult
economic environment.
Shares closed Tuesday at $24.96.
