HONG KONG--Ericsson has signed a three-year agreement with
Axiata Group Bhd (6888.KU) to provide microwave and radio services
in the countries where Axiata operates--Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri
Lanka, Bangladesh and Cambodia--to widen broadband coverage where
conditions may be challenging.
The services include 2G, 3G, 4G and wireless technologies as
well as Ericsson's microwave and radio equipment, MINI-LINK and
RBS6000 radio base.
Stockholm, Sweden-based Ericsson operates in 180 countries and
services over 2.5 billion subscribers. Todd Ashton, Head of
Ericsson Malaysia and Sri Lanka, said in a public statement that
the deal "confirms Ericsson's position as technology leader. The
flexibility and reliability of our solutions will help Axiata offer
the best possible service to their customers."
