Equinix, Inc. Enhances Business Operations and Decision-Making with Oracle(R) Business Intelligence Applications

Oracle's Operational BI Applications Enable Equinix to Reduce Customer On- Boarding

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- To improve upon operational business processes and decision-making, Equinix, Inc. (NASDAQ: EQIX), the leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, has deployed Oracle(R) Financial Analytics and Oracle Order Management and Fulfillment Analytics applications to complement its existing Oracle E-Business Suite implementation.

Oracle's operational business intelligence (BI) applications replace a prior static reporting system that required heavy support from IT staff. Growing at over 30 percent annually, Equinix sought a solution that would scale with the company over time, support varying departments and roles throughout the organization, and most importantly, deliver fast return on investment. Equinix selected Oracle's BI applications following an evaluation of several BI pure-play vendors and the exploring the option of developing its own custom data warehouse and reporting solution.

Within four months, Equinix deployed Oracle Order Management and Fulfillment Analytics and Oracle Financial Analytics. Oracle Order Management and Fulfillment Analytics enables Equinix to monitor the entire Order to Cash business process and allows for detailed operational and financial backlog analysis. Oracle Financial Analytics helps Equinix's front-line managers improve financial performance with complete, up-to-the-minute information on their department's expenses and revenue contributions. BI Consulting Group, an Oracle Certified Partner, was contracted by Equinix to deploy these applications, as well as deliver product training to end-users.

Intuitive dashboards from the applications are available to approximately 100 users within the company spanning executives, business operations, finance, and sales, among other departments. Serving as the primary data sources for Oracle's BI applications is Equinix's ERP system powered by the Oracle E-Business Suite. Built on the Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition, Oracle's BI applications take advantage of the platform's hot-pluggable capabilities to extend intelligence capabilities to a wide range of data sources including the Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise, Oracle's Siebel CRM, and SAP.

With Oracle Business Intelligence Applications, Equinix is able to track and analyze processes and affect changes and improvements. With role-based dashboards, embedded analytics, proactive alerts and guided analysis at their disposal, Equinix employees are able to continuously monitor performance and gain valuable insights about their business. For example, Equinix is now capable of measuring the lifecycle of their customer on-boarding process from the moment a quote is delivered to a prospective customer to having a customer fully installed in Equinix's data centers.

"When we set out to implement Oracle's BI applications, we wanted dashboards in people's hands in four months and we achieved that objective," said Todd Elsberg, director of business operations at Equinix. "We anticipate that building our own solution from scratch would have taken twice as long to deploy in comparison to these applications. Oracle's BI applications met our immediate needs and will grow with us as our corporate wide reporting environment."

A component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Business Intelligence is a portfolio of infrastructure software and applications that provides the industry's first integrated, end-to-end Enterprise Performance Management System, including category-leading financial performance management applications, operational BI applications, BI foundation and tools, and data warehousing.
