Enel SpA (ENEL.MI) said Thursday that it has been awarded two
renewable-energy support contracts to build 146 megawatts of new
wind capacity in Alberta, Canada.
Italy-based Enel will build two new wind farms to supply power
output to the Alberta Electric System Operator over a period of 20
years. Total investment in the project will be around $170 million,
said Enel, though it didn't provide other financial details of the
contract.
The new farms are due to go into service by 2019, the Italian
energy company said.
The contract is "the first regulated renewable tender we have
ever won in the Country," said Antonio Cammisecra, the head of
global renewable energy at Enel Green Power.
