Electric Power Research Institute and FirstEnergy Host Power Quality Conference in Cleveland

AKRON, Ohio, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Advances in power quality technology and research will be among the topics presented and discussed at the annual Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Power Quality Applications and Advanced Distribution Automation Joint Conference and Exhibition, held August 4 - 6, 2008, in Cleveland, Ohio. FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE:FE) will act as the host utility for the event.

The theme of the international conference will be practical applications and challenges regarding power quality issues, along with advanced distribution automation technologies and systems as the electric industry moves toward implementation of a "smart grid."

More than 200 participants and 60 companies are expected to attend the conference, which will include a reception at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
