its fourth-quarter profit jumped 21 percent, helped by favorable exchange rates
and higher sales at home and abroad.
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (AP) -- Networking equipment maker QLogic Corp. said
Wednesday its fiscal third-quarter profit inched lower as the cost of sales and
other expenses grew, although adjusted earnings beat Wall Street's expectations.

Wednesday fourth-quarter net income rose 14 percent, as higher volume and
cost-cutting offset higher raw-material costs.
FOSTER CITY, Calif. (AP) -- Biotechnology company Gilead Sciences Inc. said
Wednesday it swung to a fourth-quarter profit from a year-ago quarter weighed by
hefty charges.
