profit of Matsushita, maker of Panasonic brand products, by 17 percent in the
second quarter.
JUNO BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Utility operator FPL Group Inc. reported higher
third-quarter profit Tuesday, with rates rose at its power production unit and
new assets were added.
PLANO, Texas (AP) -- Rent-A-Center Inc., the nation's largest rent-to-own
operator, said late Monday its third-quarter profit edged up 0.4 percent as
revenue was boosted by its acquisition of Rent-Way.

first-quarter earnings surged 40 percent, beating Wall Street expectations, as
new student starts and total student population both increased.
