its first-quarter profit tumbled 31 percent, blaming a jump in diesel fuel
prices and a drop in freight demand.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- AmerisourceBergen Corp., one of the nation's largest
drug distributors, said Wednesday its second-quarter earnings rose 3 percent on
higher drug sales, but cut its outlook for the year due in part to a slower
pharmaceutical market.
ATLANTA (AP) -- Delta and Northwest, seeking to combine to create the

Wednesday it swung to a first-quarter loss as overhead costs rose and sales of
big-ticket items and other products at existing stores fell.
NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Carter's Inc., which makes apparel for babies and
young children, hit a fresh 52-week low on Wednesday, after the company said
earnings could fall 5 percent in 2008.
