LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Satellite broadcaster DirecTV Group Inc. said Wednesday
its third-quarter earnings slipped on higher costs, but revenue rose 18 percent
from more customers and demand for high-definition and digital video recorder
services.
ROSEVILLE, Calif. (AP) -- SureWest Communications, a telecommunications
company that serves northern California, said Wednesday its third-quarter
earnings dropped 66 percent from a year-ago period helped by income from
discontinued operations.
RESTON, Va. (AP) -- Clinical research organization PRA International Inc.
said Wednesday its third-quarter profit fell 20 percent on higher costs.
DENVER (AP) -- Oil and gas producer Cimarex Energy Co. said Wednesday its
third-quarter profit fell as gas sales declined and costs increased.
CONCORD, N.C. (AP) -- Speedway Motorsports Inc., operator of racetracks
including Bristol Motor Speedway, said Wednesday it swung to a third-quarter
loss because of investment losses on its merchandising joint venture with
International Speedway Corp.
HOUSTON (AP) -- ATP Oil & Gas Corp., which explores and develops natural gas
and oil properties, said Wednesday its third-quarter earnings nearly doubled,
but revenue fell as production slowed during subsea expansion work.
HOUSTON (AP) -- Spectra Energy Partners LP's net income rose nearly tenfold
in the third quarter due to a significant one-time tax benefit, higher demand
for transportation and storage services, and expansion projects, the natural-gas
partnership said Wednesday.
