Wednesday its second-quarter profits dropped sharply on slightly higher revenue
and higher costs tied to its planned rollout of a WiMax network.
NEW YORK (AP) -- Tyco Electronics Ltd., the electronics business that split
from Tyco International Inc. earlier this year, on Wednesday reported a deep
loss in its fiscal third quarter after booking several charges related to its
former parent.

second-quarter profit fell as generic competition sliced off sales of the

equipment to oil and natural gas exploration companies, said Wednesday its
second-quarter earnings more than doubled from the year-ago quarter due to the
acquisition of international drilling operations.
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. (AP) -- Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Wednesday its
second-quarter profit fell despite a near doubling of revenue, as expenses and a
hefty interest expense ate away at gains.
CLEVELAND (AP) -- PolyOne Corp., a provider of specialized polymers used by
the homebuilding, automotive and other industries, said Wednesday it swung to a
loss in the second quarter due to charges related to selling a joint venture
interest and a decline in demand from residential building and construction
customers.
NEW YORK (AP) -- ExpressJet Holdings Inc., which operates ExpressJet
Airlines Inc., said Wednesday it swung to a second-quarter loss on costs related
to transitioning aircraft to other airlines and the cost of startup operations.
