Director Resignation
Econergy International PLC ('Econergy International' or 'the Company') today announces
that Mr. Lee Atkins has resigned as a Director
and Chief Financial Officer of the Company effective 17 September 2008.
Ms. Elisabeth Castro has been appointed as the Group's Chief Financial Officer with
immediate effect. There is no current intention for
Ms. Castro to join the Board.
Ms. Castro joined Econergy International in 2006 as Controller and has over 20 years of
financial and operational experience with
multi-million dollar manufacturing companies at the corporate and divisional levels. At
Econergy International Ms. Castro oversees all of
the domestic and foreign accounting departments, the external audit, taxation requirements,
treasury and risk management. Her areas of
expertise include restructuring divisions, implementing audits and developing processes and
controls for finance departments. She has an
M.S. and BBA in Accountancy from the University of Houston and is also a CPA.
The Board would like to thank Mr. Atkins for his contribution to Econergy International.
Econergy International is currently subject to an offer from SESA BidCo Ltd (BidCo), a
subsidiary of Suez Energy South America
Participaões Ltda. As of 29 July 2008 Bidco announced it had received acceptances in
respect to approximately 94.4% of Econergy
International's shares and the offer declared unconditional as to acceptances but still
conditional as to certain Brazilian consents.
