In accordance with Listing Rule 9.6.14, the Board of Aberforth Smaller Companies
Trust plc announces that Mr Hamish Buchan, a Director of the Company, has been
appointed as a non-executive director of Templeton Emerging Markets Investment
Trust PLC with effect from 26 June 2008. Mr Buchan has also been appointed as a
member of the Audit Committee of Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust PLC.
