FRANKFURT--Germany's Deutsche Telekom AG (DTE.XE) is in initial
talks to sell Internet service provider T-Online to media company
Axel Springer SE (SPR.XE), German magazine Wirtschaftswoche reports
Saturday, citing company sources.
Executives of both companies have met to discuss such a
transaction, it says.
A spokesman for Deutsche Telekom declined to comment when
contacted Saturday. Springer wasn't available for a statement.
A tie-up would merge Germany's No. 1 and 3 online portals,
T-Online and Springer's Bild.de, with 314 million and 295 million
views in November, respectively.
Deutsche Telekom Chief Executive Timotheus Hoettges is
determined to sell the unit but may keep some parts of it,
Wirtschaftswoche adds.
