today announced that the results of the latest CNN/Opinion Research
Corporation Poll showed 52% of registered Democrats cited Senator Barack
Obama as their favored candidate to win the Democratic Presidential
nomination. This finding was based on 463 interviews with registered
Democrats conducted via telephone by Opinion Research Corporation, with
a sampling error of +/-4.5 percentage points.
When it came to the national election, both Democratic candidates were
virtually tied, with Republican nominee John McCain in hypothetical
general election match-ups. Senator Clinton would have the support of
49% of voters if she were to win the nomination, compared to 47% for
Senator McCain. Senator Obama would have 47% of voter support compared
to 46% for Senator McCain. Both results were within the poll’s
margin of error, indicating a statistical tie. Both results are based on
interviews with 950 registered voters with a sampling error of +/- 3.0
percentage points.
The poll was conducted via telephone by Opinion Research Corporation on
March 14-16, 2008 among 1,019 adult Americans. The margin of sampling
error for results based on the total sample is +/- 3.0 percentage points.
