Democratic Presidential Candidate Senator Hillary Clinton Discusses Her Presidential Campaign and the State of the Nation in Spe

SILVER SPRING, Md., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Democratic Presidential candidate Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton talks with host Cathy Hughes about a wide range of issues important to African Americans and offers a personal glimpse into what has compelled her to run for President in a special episode of TV One on One, premiering Sunday, October 14 from 8-9 PM ET.

During this revealing interview on TV One, Ms. Hughes asks Senator Clinton about a host of important domestic issues, including voting rights and race relations, sub-prime loans, education, health care, job creation, the deficit, and national security, as well as international issues including the war in Iraq, the role of diplomacy in foreign affairs and America's global reputation. Ms. Hughes also raises with Sen. Clinton more personal issues, such as why she should be President, motherhood, the role her husband would play in her administration, and how her upbringing set the stage for her public life.

In answering a question about the importance of the black vote, Sen. Clinton says, "I think it is pivotal because of numbers and because of value. I personally feel African-Americans have to be much more involved, and I think it is great that we have a campaign this year with me running, with Barack running, because hopefully we'll get even more African-Americans to register to vote, to show up to vote and take part in the debate ... There are too many African Americans who just don't feel that their government is on their side."

When Ms. Hughes asks Senator Clinton about the origin of "the mutual attraction between the Clintons and the African-American community," Sen. Clinton says, "...People know whether you care about them truly; [They know] whether it is just lip service -- you show up once a year -- or whether you care about and live with and work on issues that are going to affect people every day."

In a hallmark of the TV One on One interview, Sen. Clinton is joined by a special guest, Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY). Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Rep. Rangel was the first person to urge Sen. Clinton to run for the U.S. Senate from New York.

The special repeats Oct. 14 at midnight and Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 10 PM and 1 AM. TV One on One, hosted by Radio One Chairperson Cathy Hughes, a former talk radio host, features interviews with some of the most intriguing public figures and celebrities in America today. Guests have included Academy Award- winning actors Jamie Foxx and Forest Whitaker, Dreamgirls star Beyonce, and box office superstar Will Smith. Democratic Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) was Ms. Hughes' guest in the inaugural episode of TV One on One in October 2004, on the eve of his historic election to the U.S. Senate.
