The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE:AES), has named Tom Raga President and CEO. He is in his fifth year with DP&L and will lead the local, senior management team as it navigates the ongoing transition of the electric distribution business.

This leadership change reflects AES' commitment to growing key markets across the United States including Ohio. The company anticipates that this growth will come from a variety of sources including conventional generation and expansion of current businesses. In addition, it is expected that energy storage and distributed energy resources will contribute meaningful developments.

“Tom brings the business experience and proven leadership skills with a clear strategic vision to the role of president and CEO,” said AES U.S. President, Ken Zagzebski. “At DP&L, he has successfully managed a diverse portfolio of responsibilities and delivered results in our legislative and regulatory strategy all while being an essential partner with the customers and communities we serve.”

Raga will assume the role previously held by Derek Porter. “Derek held several key positions with AES both in the U.S. and overseas. He was committed to growing DPL's presence in the Dayton community and we appreciate his efforts in that area,” said Zagzebski.

Raga joined DP&L in 2010. He was DP&L’s vice president of public affairs overseeing corporate communications, government relations, community relations and corporate social responsibility. At DP&L, he also has held management roles in the safety, resource planning and environmental departments. He is the executive director of The DP&L Foundation. Previously, he served as vice president for advancement at Sinclair College also in Dayton. He is a former member of the Ohio House of Representatives and was appointed to serve on the State Controlling Board. A southwest Ohio native, Raga graduated from Cincinnati Moeller High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and business management from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.

“DP&L has a proud history,” said Raga. “Today, the company is challenged to provide a first-rate customer experience, develop new products and offer options to our customers taking advantage of developing technologies and energy alternatives. Above all, DP&L remains focused on providing safe and reliable power while continuing our long-standing commitment and involvement in the community.”
