Dayton Performing Arts Alliance, Victoria Theatre Association and WYSO receive grants

The Dayton Power and Light Company Foundation presented Signature Grants to three area partner organizations in conjunction with its mid-year grants.

These grants advance the DP&L Foundation’s belief in making a difference for the customers and communities DP&L serves. Signature Grants work with partner organizations to create new and innovative projects, support programs and capital improvements, drive economic growth, improve education and provide essential services to all.

The recipients of the DP&L Foundation 2016 mid-year Signature Grants are:

  • Dayton Performing Arts Alliance - $100,000 for Powering Innovation in the Performing Arts to continue focus on innovation, integrating the arts, education and community outreach, while maintaining the highest artistic quality.
  • Victoria Theatre Association - $100,000 as the Official Energy Sponsor for the Next Stage Campaign, which is building a $30 million endowment to sustain Dayton’s first-class arts facilities and programs into the future.
  • WYSO Public Radio - $50,000 to continue funding a full-time economics and business reporter to gather stories on the critical issues affecting the local economy.

Celebrating the fourth year of DP&L Foundation Signature Grants, DP&L President and CEO, Tom Raga, was joined by members of the DP&L Foundation Board to present checks to recipients and their employees last week.

“The Signature Grants have made a significant impact on our region and certainly on the organizations who have received them,” said Raga. “We want to take the time to recognize the great work these organizations do in our community and the employees who are the heart of these non-profits.”

The DP&L Foundation has awarded 30 Signature Grants to 15 of DP&L’s community partner organizations around the Miami Valley totaling more than $2.3 million.

The other mid-year grants awarded include: $40,000 to Muse Machine; $20,000 to The Human Race Theatre Company; $10,000 to Joy Outdoor Education Center and $5,000 to Sidney’s Raise the Roof for the Arts. Since 1985, The DP&L Foundation has given $35 million in grants. Annually, more than 200 DPL employees volunteer in the community.
