Who's Who as a 2017 Top Attorney in Estate Planning & Taxation.
In his role as Of Counsel at Warner Norcross & Judd, LLP,
Attorneys at Law, Thoms has spent the past 36 years working in the
areas of estate and tax planning of businesses and large
corporations, and also represents nonprofit organizations.

Thoms earned his Bachelor's degree from Kalamazoo College in 1970, and then went on to
earned his Master's degree in Urban Planning from Wayne State University in 1975, his Juris Doctor
from University of Detroit Mercy in
1979 and his LL.M. degree in Taxation from Wayne State University Law School in 1988. He is
also fluent in French as well as English.
To further his professional development, Thoms is an entrusted
member of the program committee of financial estate planning in
Detroit as part of the Board of
Directors. Additionally, he is a member of the American Planning
Association, the American Society of the French Academic Palms, the
Michigan Association of Planners, the Metropolitan Detroit Bar
Association, the State Bar Association, the Oakland Bar
Association, the New York State
Bar Association, the Planned Giving Roundtable of Detroit and the Kalamazoo County Bar
Association. He also continues to give back to his community as a
member of the advanced board and chairman of the Metropolitan
Detroit Salvation Army, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the
Visiting Nurse Association, the Greenhills School, the University of Michigan and the Detroit Institute of
the Arts.
Thoms has been recognized for his outstanding achievements in
the field and his community as a decorated officer through the
Ordre des Palmes Academiques, and earned a Commander Order of
Salvador Award from the Salvador Dali Museum in Florida.
