FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz aims to launch a
cooperation with Aston Martin, German weekly magazine Der Spiegel reported,
without citing sources.
Aston Martin may buy engines from Mercedes-Benz or cooperate on entire
platforms as supply contracts with Ford Motor Co may end following Ford's
possible sale of Jaguar and Land Rover to Tata, the magazine said in an excerpt
of an article to be published tomorrow.
Daimler may also be interested in buying a stake in the sportscar maker, Der
Spiegel said. However, Aston Martin's owners currently are not interested in
selling the company, most of which Ford sold to holding company Primrose for 848
mln usd.
