Polish digital satellite television operator Cyfrowy Polsat (CPS.WA) signed a letter of intent with the Polish mobile television operator Info-TV-FM regarding the pre-market assessment of the mobile TV service, Info-TV-FM's owner NFI Magna (06N.WA) said.
Cyfrowy Polsat is interested in testing Info-TV-FM's mobile television technology on a group of its customers, NFI Magna said in a statement Thursday. A commercial rollout may follow after the conclusion of the assessment, the company added.
Info-TV-FM launched the DVB-H platform in September. The company earlier won a frequency tender organized by the Electronic Communication Office and became a wholesale operator for the mobile television service.
The company expects to cover 10 cities with the DVB-H signal by the end of this year and 31 by the end of 2011.
Under the terms of its license, Info-TV-FM cannot sell its services to retail users and has offered the product to mobile phone operators. Cyfrowy Polsat operates on the mobile phone market as a mobile virtual network operator using the infrastructure of Deutsche Telekom AG (DT) unit PTC.
