Item 8.01 Other Events.
On May 26, 2016, Avista Corporation (Avista Corp. or the Company) filed an electric general rate case with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (IPUC). The Company did not request a change in natural gas rates.
Avista Corp. has requested an overall increase in billed electric rates of 6.3 percent (designed to increase annual electric revenues by $15.4 million), effective January 1, 2017.
Avista Corp.'s request is based on a proposed rate of return on rate base of 7.78 percent with a common equity ratio of 50 percent and a 9.9 percent return on equity.
The IPUC has up to nine months to review the filing and issue a decision.
