Cubic Global Defense provided planning,
execution and field training support for biennial training
exercise
Cubic Global Defense (CGD), a business unit of Cubic Corporation
(NYSE:CUB), today announced its successful participation in the
Talisman Sabre 2017 (TS17). TS17 is a biennial Australian and U.S.
combined training activity designed to improve combat readiness and
interoperability for military forces on a variety of missions
ranging from conventional conflict to peacekeeping and humanitarian
assistance. Involving over 30,000 Australian and U.S. defense
personnel, TS17 is one of the largest exercises in the world and
illustrates the importance of the Australian and U.S. alliance.
During the exercise, Cubic provided specialist exercise
planning, management and technical simulation support throughout
Australia as well as participating countries. Cubic staff was also
involved in scenario design and management, in addition to
building, testing and operating the complex interconnected
simulation networks. Additionally, Cubic Defence Australia was
selected to be the Simulation Interactor as part of the
theatre-level, bilateral and constructive simulation exercise, led
by CGD’s Korea Battle Simulation Center.
“Cubic has participated in the planning and execution of
Talisman Sabre for several years and we are honoured to continue
providing our services to ensure the success of this complex and
demanding training endeavour,” said Miles Macdonald, general
manager Cubic Defence Australia. “We look forward to leveraging the
collective expertise of Cubic’s Australian and U.S. teams to
further support the Australian Defence Force and its multinational
partners across the Pacific.”
To support field training activities in Shoalwater Bay,
Australia, Cubic provided integration and operation of live,
virtual and constructive simulation as well as
5,000-square-kilometers of digital voice and meshed data
communications. Cubic’s instrumentation was deployed on soldiers
during training and also mounted on a wide range of military
vehicles and helicopters. Paired with Cubic’s Exercise Control
(EXCON) software and experienced training analysts, the equipment
enhanced realism and effectively improved soldiers’ understanding
and achievement of training outcomes.
TS17, which ended in late July, incorporated force preparation
activities, Special Forces activities, amphibious landings,
parachuting, land force manoeuvre, urban operations, air
operations, maritime operations and coordinated firing of live
ammunition and explosive ordnance from small arms, artillery, naval
vessels and aircraft.
